Grocery Store Deals

Well, I have thought long and hard about the grocery store deals over the weekend. I talked with my hubby and realized it will be way to hard for me to list select grocery stores at this time. With over 500 comments for grocery store suggestions, well, to say the least I felt a tad bit overwhelmed. As one reader mentioned, I am spreading myself to thin. I have three darling kiddos and do not want my focus to be taken away from them or all the other aspects of my site.

I know you all obviously come to my site for other reasons then the grocery store deals. If I devoted the time and energy to list these it would definitely take away from all the other deals I post. I absolutely love scouring the Internet for all those great "hidden" deals, but I wouldn't be able to do that nearly as much if I started this new endeavour.

I hope you all understand. I wish I could be in 50 places at once and was, well, superwomen, but I can't and I'm not.

Now on a positive note, I will start listing the Walmart deals. Walmart was a popular pick among lots of readers and since it is in most locations, in my opinion, it only makes sense to post those! I will be going to Walmart this week to price check items and match up coupons. I'm hoping to have a long list of accurate coupon match ups by the end of this week, possibly the beginning of next week. So stay tuned for that!

Since I won't be listing the grocery store deals, I want to make you aware of some great blogs that do. If you find a blog below that you like, then make sure to bookmark it in your favorites. That way you'll remember to go back and check the new grocery store deals on a weekly basis!

Also, if your military, then stay tuned for an exciting post shortly!

I appreciate all the work you do. I don't come to your site for grocery store deals, so I'm not missing anything. Keep doing your thing. God Bless!!

I love, love, love your site as is!! I am so addicted! lol...thanks for the links. You are the best!

That is actually one of the reasons I love your blog... because you don't have all the grocery deals listed. I don't have any of those stores around me so it's just extra posts I have to scroll through.

Walmart listings would be good though. That one I can use.

Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this blog!

I would just like to say congrats for the fact that you know you can't be superwoman! I think that is the biggest problem among mom's today. We don't want to place limitations on ourselves...we want it all and we just can't possibly do it all. Thanks for all you do and your children are blessed that you know that they are more important than being the blogger with the most on her site. Thanks for everything that you have posted and will in the future. You are my number two site in the morning...I check your site right after my e-mail! Have a great week!

I totally respect and agree with your decision. I LOVE your finds and would hate to miss out on them! I am excited you are doing Wal-Mart though!

I suspect her cape is hidden in her new eco-tote shopping bag! :-)

This is my favorite of all the dealblogs, just the way it is!

(Cue the music)...We love you just the way you are..........

why not tell us how you find the "hidden" deals, so we can do the research ourselves.....that way its less on your plate and it is spread across all 500 plates...

I come here for other deals and I know others do too! I get my grocery store match ups from Southern Savers, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE your Amazon deals! I don't know anyone else doing those. I keep coming here because you sometimes have deals that others don't. So I think you are doing great by sticking with your regular deal round up. Thanks for all the info you share here!

I think that is a great decision. Reasonableness is a very rare quality these days. And thanks for all the links - I found a nice site for my grocery store that I hadn't come across before.

I do deals for ShopRite & Pathmark. Thanks for doing Walmart. I don't have a Walmart by me so would it be okay if I link to your site for Walmart deals? Living Rich With Coupons

Hi Hip2Save, You are so right not to be doing the supermarket finds...I don't know how you do what you do now, let alone add another project to your list...kudos to your hubby, too.
We all love what you do for us, but bottom line...your family comes first.

I've said it many times before, and I will say it again...thanks so much for all the great deals and "freebies".

MamaOf4 said...

Hip 2 Save, I hope you realize we dont come to you for grocery deals..That would be way too much, and as someone else pointed out, you have afan base from all over the country, and listing all stores is impossible and not listing all stores is showing favoritism. : ) We love you for everything that you do. You are an amazing woman and we dont want you to change! : ) I mean, the only thing you're NOT trying to do for us is the actual shopping! : )

BTW, a great place to get all grocery deals in your area is smartsource.com Click on grocery circulars, type in your zip, and it will give you a listing of ALL grocery deals. You can then make a "shopping list" to print. Walmart has all other stores ads, so when you tell them where a deal is, they ring the item up for that price. I like the list as backup incase i ever meet a cashier that doesnt believe me.

So to sum up... THANK YOU COLLIN FOR HAVING THE BEST WEBSITE OUT HERE FOR HE BEST DEALS!!!

My coupon club is looking for someone in the military with a commisary that takes expired coupons. The family we used to send ours to has moved. We have a giant box with no home. Would you like them? I feel I owe you much more for all the great deals.....

Bravo to you for finding balance! I love your site, and check it soo many times a day (my husband thinks it's an addiction!) but I love being able to provide great gifts and treats for my family and friends even leaving on grad student income. Thanks again!

can assign you a military family overseas. I have one family I send expired coupons to and another one I send coupons I am not going to use, both families live overseas and greatly appreciate the coupons since they don't get the newspapers we do.

I LOVE all the internet deals you do! so keep up the good work. and yes, I agree, focus on those 3 little ones, they are so precious and need your attention. We (your readers) can figure out the deals at our local grocery stores. Besides, there are other local bloggers that I watch too for my local grocery deals. Such as www.jillcataldo.com for the NW suburbs of Chicago. TAke care and enjoy your summer :) P.S. I am pretty much done with my Christmas shopping because of your deals you post!

I totally support your decision- I was wondering myself how you would pull that off! So good for you in taking a step back and realizing what you could handle :) I would HATE to see the other parts of your site suffer, because it is amazing the way it is... You have saved my family so much money!!
Thanks for the list of other blogs... I didn't know anyone listed Price Chopper at all! YAYYYY! :)

I love your site! I, too, was wondering how you were going to do it all. I sometimes struggle just to get the grocery stores up that I cover.

I cover Shop 'n Save, Dierbergs and Schnucks in the Southern Illinois and St. Louis areas.

This week's will be up later today!

I agree with everyone else. Your blog rocks because you do put all the effort into the hidden deals. Anything that would take away from that would change your blog, and probably leave you too frazzled to enjoy doing it. I use The Grocery Game for coupon matchups, and also Mommy Snacks. Even just following others' lists to sort through my coupons and compile my own list to do my shopping is time consuming.

Thanks for the hard work!!! I've gotten so much awesome stuff from your postings. I'm still in awe over that cute little polka dot tea set from Splenda! And I got my Killians beer tasting set a few days ago, and no one believes me when I tell them it was free!

I agree with the other commenters that you're site is great just the way it is! There are plenty of other sites that do the grocery store deals, but you have many other unique offers to share with us! I appreciate the Wal-Mart deals, so thanks for doing that! You're great!

I think you are being so smart to not stretch yourself too thin and keep your children a priority. I have other sites that I look at for my grocery deals anyway, but no other site I have found does the types of deals you do as well as you do. Keep it up and thank you so much!

Jen - I'm from fort wayne, and i have never heard of those stores. We dont have any local only stores. We have meijer, walmart, kroger, and a small grocery section at target and kmart. I even sent an email to publix asking them if they were expanding...they said no, they have no need to (in a much nicer way, of course). : )

Lisa B said...

There are so many other blogs that cover all the grocery stores...I personally like that yours doesn't cover grocery stores, but other unique things that stand apart from most other blogs. You're the best!!

Dear Hip2Save,

I was wondering where you would find the time to do the grocery store deals as well, in addition to all that you already do. I respect you a great deal, because you can do all this with 3 kids ! The hallmark of your blog has always been "QUALITY of content", so I am glad you have chosen to go this path - it is the right thing.

Thanks so much !

Thanks for listing Cha Ching Queen for the HEB deals.

I totally know what you mean about trying to take on too much.

You are doing a great job. I love reading your blog.

thanks, Rachel

Thanks for the linky! I'm a fairly new blogger, so I appreciate the traffic. I cover the three main stores in Kansas City, including Price Chopper Midwest and the thing that sets me apart from other grocery bloggers for these stores is that I cover peelies, tear pads and other coupon sources other than the Sunday inserts. Please join me!

Jen said...

@MamaOf4: We have Walmart and Meijer, too. I have seen Meijer and Jewel (and obviously Walmart) on other blogs, but not those smaller chains that are more local.

Good Call! I like your focus on the deals (and grocery stores are a lot of work!). I would rather have your deals and let others do the stores.

I cover Aldi's at www.goodtrueandbeautiful.com -- there is a "how to" guide there as well!

Thanks again

I for one am glad you decided not to do the grocery stores. I have my favorites for those already and I like your site just the way it is.

i just recently started with your site. when i came home with 16.00 worth of products for .33 cents, my husband understood why i clipped coupons. i don't know how you do what you do already. don't give up your family. it looks like a lot of people love you, but your family is what matters most. you are making the right decision. i don't come for the grocery deals either. you've saved me a bundle in toiletries and household items. thank you.

Your site is my most favorite for finding deals and great coupons. I like it just the way it is! The grocery match-ups wouldn't have affected me very much as I don't live anywhere near any nationwide chains. :) I really appreciate your candor.

I do match ups for Tops in NY. I volunteer for the site www.refundcents.com
There is a small fee for an online membership, but it is sooo worth it! They also do Wegmans in NY and MANY other stores from different states are covered. I just discovered hip2save and I love the tips for restaurant deals!

First I have to say that I truly love your blog and you have inspired me to save more money. I'm still not saving quite as much as you but I am learning as I go. :)

You have also inspired me to start my own blog to cover my favorite grocery store Tops (Buffalo, NY).

It's a work in progress but I am getting there. Again thanks for your help!!
